  • 15 g (½ oz) butter
  • 250 g (8 oz) mixed berries, such as blueberries, blackberries and raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons kirsch
  • 4 waffles
  • 4 tablespoons crème fraîche

Melt the butter in a nonstick frying pan, add the berries, sugar and kirsch and cook over a high heat, stirring gently, for 1–2 minutes.

Meanwhile, toast or reheat the waffles according to the packet instructions. Put a waffle on each serving plate, spoon the berries over the waffles and top each portion with 1 tablespoon crème fraîche. Serve immediately.
