Spiced Oven-roasted Plums

  • 8 ripe red plums
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 50 g (2 oz) demerara sugar
  • grated rind and juice of 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Place the whole plums, cinnamon stick and star anise in a shallow ovenproof dish. Scatter over the sugar, then add the orange rind and juice, orange liqueur and measurement water.
  • Place in a preheated oven, 200ºC (400ºF), Gas Mark 6, for 25–30 minutes, basting halfway through the cooking time.
  • Spoon the plums into bowls and pour over some of the syrup. Serve immediately.
