• 90 g (3 1/4 oz) butter, softened
  • 110 g (3 3/4 oz) caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 150 g (5 oz) plain flour
  • 55 g (2 oz) ground almonds
  • 60 g (2 1/4 oz) sesame seeds
  • Beat together the butter, sugar and oil in a bowl. Beat in the egg, then fold in the flour and ground almonds. Bring the mixture together using your hands to form a dough.
  • Place the sesame seeds on a plate. Roll walnut-sized pieces of the dough into balls, then roll them in the seeds. Place, spaced a little apart, on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in a preheated oven, 160°C (325°F), Gas Mark 3, for 20 minutes until light golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
