Cook the linguini according to the instructions on the packet. Drain.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frying pan. Add the pancetta and cook for a couple of minutes until it is beginning to brown, add the garlic and chilli (if using) and fry for a further minute. Add the scallops to the pan and cook for a further minute, turning halfway through cooking.
Toss the linguini with the rocket, add the scallops and serve immediately.
