Piri Piri Hot-Dog

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 teaspoon piri piri seasoning mix or medium chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or water
  • 8 cooked sausages or Frankfurters
  • 4–8 hot dog buns, split
  • creamy coleslaw, to serve (optional)
  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan and cook the onion and pepper over a high heat for 5–6 minutes until coloured.
  • Reduce the heat and tip the piri piri seasoning mix, lemon juice or water and sausages into the pan. Cook the sausages and spices for 2–3 minutes, shaking the pan frequently to cook evenly.
  • Arrange the piri piri sausages in their hot dog buns and serve immediately with creamy coleslaw.
