Pan-Fried Toffee Apples

  • 75 g (3 oz) butter
  • 4 dessert apples, cored and cut into wedges
  • 75 g (3 oz) soft light brown sugar
  • 75 ml (3 fl oz) double cream
  • Heat the butter in a large frying pan, add the apple wedges and fry for 5 minutes until soft and golden. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Add the sugar to the butter and juices in the pan and heat gently, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Simmer for 1 minute, then stir in the cream and heat through for 1 minute.
  • Return the apples to the pan and coat in the toffee sauce. Cool slightly, then serve.
