Orange and Strawberry Salad

  • 60 g (2 1/4 oz) caster sugar
  • 100 ml (3 1/2 fl oz) water
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced basil leaves
  • 150 g (5 oz) strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 4 oranges
  • Put the sugar and measurement water in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 2–3 minutes and then let it cool briefly before adding the basil.
  • Place the strawberries in a bowl. Peel and segment 4 oranges over the bowl to catch the juice. Add the orange segments to the strawberries.
  • Pour in the syrup and serve.
