• 400 g (13 oz) fresh mixed berries, such as strawberries, redcurrants and raspberries, plus extra to decorate
  • 3 tablespoons crème de cerises or cherry brandy
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 large blueberry muffins, sliced
  • 150 ml (¼ pint) double cream, whipped to soft peaks

Put the fruit in a bowl and use the back of a fork to crush it with the cherry liqueur or brandy and maple syrup until well combined.

Arrange the sliced muffins in the bottom of a glass dish. Spoon over the fruit and top with the whipped cream. Decorate with the extra berries and serve.
