• 8 fresh figs, rinsed in cold water
  • About 3 teaspoons rose water
  • 4 tablespoons runny honey
  • 50 g (2 oz) unsalted butter
  • 250 g (8 oz) Greek yogurt
  • a little Turkish delight, roughly chopped

Cut a cross in the top of each fig and open out the cut to halfway through the fruit. Arrange the figs in a small roasting tin or shallow ovenproof dish. Add a few drops of rose water to each fig, then drizzle with 3 tablespoons of the honey and dot with the butter.

Bake in a preheated oven, 190°C (375°F), Gas Mark 5, for 8–10 minutes until the figs are hot but still firm. Meanwhile, mix the yogurt with the remaining honey and gradually mix in a little of the remaining rose water to taste.

Transfer the figs to shallow serving dishes and serve with spoonfuls of yogurt sprinkled with Turkish delight.
