40 g (1 1/2 oz) Mexican spice mix (such as fajita seasoning)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
400 g (13 oz) minced beef
soft tortilla wraps or toasted burger buns
grated Cheddar cheese (optional)
spicy salsa (optional)
Iceberg lettuce (optional)
Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a frying pan and cook the onion and red pepper over a medium heat for 10 minutes until really soft and golden. Scrape into a large bowl and set aside to cool for 2–3 minutes before adding the remaining ingredients. Mix really well with your hands, then shape into 4 patties.
Return the pan to the heat with the remaining oil and cook the burgers over a medium heat for 4–5 minutes on each side until cooked but still juicy.
Serve the chilli beef burgers in folded tortillas or toasted burger buns with fillings such as grated Cheddar cheese, salsa and shredded Iceberg lettuce, if desired.
