Honeyed Figs

  • 12 figs
  • 20 g (3/4 oz) unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons mascarpone cheese
  • 50 g (2 oz) toasted flaked almonds
  • Cut a cross in the top of each fig, not quite cutting all the way through. Place in an ovenproof dish.
  • Melt together the butter, honey and cinnamon in a saucepan and pour over the figs.
  • Bake in a preheated oven, 200°C (400°F), Gas Mark 6, for 20 minutes.
  • Serve the figs with a dollop of mascarpone and sprinkled with flaked almonds, if liked.
