Put the rum, cachaça, brandy, lime juice and pineapple juice in a cocktail shaker and add some ice cubes.
Shake and strain over more ice into 2 old-fashioned glasses. Decorate each glass with a pineapple slice, a lime twist and some cherries and serve.
To make a Banana Royal, which has the same essential ingredients, to serve 1, blend some crushed ice with 1½ measures each of coconut milk and golden rum, 3 measures of pineapple juice, ½ measure of double cream and a banana. Process until smooth and creamy then serve in a highball glass and sprinkle with desiccated coconut.
