Goan Fried Fish

Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 4 skinless halibut steaks, about 200 g (7 oz) each
  • 4 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • green salad, to serve (optional)
Directions
  • Mix together the ground spices and pastes in a bowl. Add the juice of 2 lemons and stir to mix well. Spread the mixture all over the fish and season well.
  • Heat 4 tablespoons sunflower oil in a large frying pan, add the fish and fry over a medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes on each side or until just cooked through. Serve with a green salad, if liked.
