  • 2 garlic cloves, very finely chopped
  • 2 red chillies, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons five-spice powder
  • 4 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 4 pork chops, about 200 g (7 oz) each
  • 300 g (10 oz) green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated lemon rind
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • salt and pepper
  • Mix together the garlic, red chillies, five-spice powder, sweet chilli sauce and soy sauce in a small bowl, then spread the mixture all over the pork chops and season. Cover and leave to marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Put the pork chops on a baking sheet lined with foil, then cook under a preheated hot grill for 5–6 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
  • Meanwhile, cook the beans in a large saucepan of lightly salted boiling water for 3–4 minutes until just tender. Drain well, then put in a bowl with the olive oil, lemon rind and juice and toss together. Cover and keep warm.
  • Transfer the pork chops on to warm serving plates and serve with the green beans.
