Easy Chocolate Sauce for Ice Cream

  • 250 g (8 oz) dark chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 25 g (1 oz) butter
  • 100 ml (3 1/2 fl oz) double cream
  • vanilla ice cream with tinned or fresh fruit, to serve (optional)
  • Place the chocolate, golden syrup, butter and cream in a small pan set over a very low heat. (Alternatively, place in a bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water so that the bowl does not touch the surface of the water.) Melt the chocolate and butter gently, stirring until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  • Set aside to cool slightly, then serve drizzled over vanilla ice cream and tinned or fresh fruit, if desired.
