Meals and Courses

  • 250 ml (8 fl oz) water
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • 1½ teaspoons crushed dried chillies
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 75 g (3 oz) plain dark chocolate (85% cocoa solids), grated
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 350 g (11½ oz) strong white bread flour
  • 50 g (2 oz) cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons molasses sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fast-action dried yeast

Lift the bread pan out of the machine and fit the blade. Put the ingredients in the pan, following the order specified in the manual. Add the spices, grated chocolate and cocoa powder with the flour.

Fit the pan into the machine and close the lid. Set to a 750 g (1½ lb) loaf size on the basic white programme. Select your preferred crust setting.

At the end of the programme lift the pan out of the machine and shake the bread out on to a wire rack to cool.
