Smoothie, Cocktail and Juice

  • 2.5 cm (1 inch) piece fresh root ginger
  • 100 g (3½ oz) fig, plus extra to serve (optional)
  • 1 orange
  • 250 g (8 oz) carrot
  • 100 g (3½ oz) banana
  • ice cubes

Peel and roughly chop the ginger. Juice the fig and orange with the carrot and ginger.

Transfer the juice to a food processor or blender, add the banana and some ice cubes and process until smooth.

Pour the drink into a glass, add more ice cubes, decorate with sliced figs, if liked, and serve immediately.
